An Object Type is an underlying “design object” that allows you to model “things” in the Business, such as Applications, Data, Technology, etc.

The TOGAF object types are likely to cover all the things you want to model. If not, the topic below describes how to set up a new Object Type.

Before doing so, however, consider first the use of Object Categories – e.g. we already model “Assets” as a category (or sub-type) of “Organization Unit”.
