Many times, I am asked, “what is the difference between the Zachman Framework and other Frameworks, notably TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework)? There is a profound difference and Allen Brown, President of The Open Group, expressed this in introducing me to a TOGAF conference in Johannesburg several years ago when he said something to the effect, “for years, I thought it was either TOGAF OR Zachman. That is incorrect. It is TOGAF AND Zachman.” This article is my effort to elaborate Allen’s observation using a “Chemistry Metaphor”.
